In Singapore, mahjong competitions are popular and are mostly organized by clubs and community centers. Some notable annual events include:

Community Centre Tournaments:

Various community centers across Singapore organize mahjong tournaments as part of their activities. For example, the Henderson Community Centre and Tampines Changkat Community Centre have hosted events like the Tanglin-Cairnhill Mahjong Tournament and the Mahjong Challenge (Singapore Sparrows) (RSYC).

Republic of Singapore Yacht Club (RSYC) Mahjong Competitions:

RSYC occasionally hosts mahjong competitions, and their events often include a social aspect, allowing members to engage in this traditional game in a competitive but friendly environment (RSYC).

These events provide opportunities for enthusiasts to test their skills, socialize, and enjoy the intellectual challenge that mahjong offers. If you are interested in participating, it’s a good idea to check with local community centers and clubs for upcoming tournaments.

SPGG and NTU Alumni Club

About SPGG:

The Singapore Polytechnic Graduates' Guild (SPGG) is an exclusive club for graduates of Singapore Polytechnic. Established in 1971, SPGG aims to foster a sense of community among its members by providing various social, recreational, and professional development activities.

About NTU Alumni Club

The NTU Alumni Club serves graduates of Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore. The club aims to maintain and strengthen connections among NTU alumni through various activities, events, and facilities.

Early this year, Singapore Polytechnic Graduates Guild also held a friendly tournament together with NTU Alumni Club on 02/03/2024. Though the event is likely a one-time Mahjong special, do look out for more in the upcoming years!
